Our Story

The face behind Runnin’ a Muck

My name is Fae, I started Runnin’ a Muck acres in 2017 when I was just 19 years old. I was in 7th grade when I bought my first animal, a 18 year old mustang for $200, Bronco. I boarded Bronco at a local horse farm, and I worked off my rent by doing the horse chores. The owner was always bringing in random animals, so one day I all of a sudden had a herd of goats to care for. There was this one goat, Belle momma, who seemed to keep making her way back to the farm for one reason or another. When the owner decided to sell the farm, I brought Bronco home and he offered me Belle, I couldn’t refuse. She was pregnant at the time, so a few months later I had my own little herd of goats. Animal husbandry fills my cup, to the brim. So when I no longer had the horses to care for, I started to miss the reasonability. I slowly began my deep dive into the hobby farm world. In 2020 I purchased my first home and have added in chickens, ducks, geese, sheep, and everything has bloomed from there.

I have always loved creating things from simple materials, making tables from fallen tree branches, to painting rocks and trying to sell them to the neighbors when I was younger. Creating my products from simple oils and goats milk from my pastures allows me to feel like that little kid again.

While outside of the farm, you can find me working at a local hospital in the laboratory. I have worked with this company for 6 years while recently continuing my education to become a Medical Laboratory Technician.

One day I hope to live off my farm sustainably, it’s where my heart is and forever will be.

Hand milked

Rain or shine (or in this case 100F), all of our goats are milked by hand. We believe its important to establish a close relationship with the goats. By hand milking, it offers special time with individual goats. I also believe this is a more comfortable method for the girls. As some only like to be milked with a certain position of the hand.
